Dara Guiney

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Dara has lived a fruitful and eventful life which has seen him live as far a field as London, England, various parts of the Netherlands and is currently based in the east coast region of the USA.Dara started his creative career first in the form of print and was a writer for the controversial In Dublin magazine. During this period he engulfed himself in research and followed this with the position of chief researcher for the Irish Theatre Archive which incidentally was housed in the Irish Museum of Modern Art. It was while working for the Irish Theatre Archive he discovered his love for behind the scenes creativity.

Upon arriving in the US, Dara culled his talent working a variety of venues and with a variety of show business acts ranging from touring Broadway shows to international musical acts, these shows taught him the necessary traits he would need to become a professional in the business of design. Dara accepted a full time position at a lighting design house in Rhode Island East Coast Lighting and Production Services and spent his time here learning and developing the craft of lighting design and lighting technician. From the intricate and precise use of conventional fixtures through to the correct procedure and placement of automated fixtures while incorporating the use of trussing and rigging to alternate different stage dimensions and give the audience and client the magical experience they desire.

Dara is a confident lighting programmer and is well versed in wholehog operating systems and has programmed shows for numerous international acts and corporate events. Dara is currently lighting designer and operator for Killswitch Engage and Dropkick Murphys . Former touring clients include Rise Against, Flogging Molly, Thursday, Straylight Run and The Frames. He also continues to educate himself with continued research and training.
